2008 Peugeot RC HYbrid4 Concept
Explore the RC HYbrid4 Concept: history, verified identity, specification references, rarity evidence and real credited photos.

The RC HYbrid4 brought a four-door grand-touring shape to Peugeot's 2008 hybrid concept work. Its staged introduction began with an August announcement using the deliberately incomplete name “RC…”, before the fuller identity appeared in the show programme. This profile follows that physical hybrid GT study, keeping it distinct from the earlier RC Pique and Carreau concepts, the diesel 908 RC and the separate crossover-oriented Prologue HYbrid4.
A name revealed in stages
Peugeot's August 2008 announcement explicitly withheld the complete RC name until the Paris show. That explains why period sources can use an abbreviated title for the same developing presentation. The full RC HYbrid4 identity is subsequently present in the brand's Geneva programme. These are stages of one project, not evidence of separate editions or additional cars. A dated source trail is more informative than treating every variation in the press title as another concept.

Four doors and a grand-touring brief
The manufacturer's description emphasises four seats and four doors within a sporting GT proposition. That passenger arrangement distinguishes it from the earlier compact RC concepts and from a pure racing prototype. The design asked how sporting proportions and everyday access might work together. Its physical appearance can be analysed on those terms without claiming that the concept had completed the approval, durability and servicing work required for a production grand tourer.
A hybrid performance proposition
Peugeot's initial announcement quotes 230 kW, expressed as 313 PS, alongside a hybrid-powertrain description. That figure belongs to the manufacturer concept proposition, not an independently tested customer model. The HYbrid4 identity also needs the project qualifier: later production vehicles using related branding require their own powertrain and battery specifications. A shared technology label does not establish that every car used this concept's arrangement or delivered the same combined output.

Emissions numbers with the right boundary
The original release also gave a 109 g/km carbon-dioxide reference and described a zero-tailpipe-emissions electric operating mode. Those are distinct claims, not a statement that all energy use across the vehicle's life has no environmental impact. The figures are retained as historical concept references rather than contemporary certification. They should not be used to calculate a modern tax category, certified range or fuel bill for a vehicle that never became this exact customer-production model.

Keeping the RC family intelligible
The RC Pique and Carreau, 908 RC, RC HYbrid4 and Prologue HYbrid4 all occupy different places in Peugeot's design history. Their names share elements, but their bodies, passenger arrangements and technical propositions differ. This profile uses the 2008 GT identity as its boundary. Physical exhibits, scale models and later appearances are not added into an invented production run, and no exclusive all-development build count is assigned from the inventory's one-car shorthand.

Rarity and production scope
Verified physical RC HYbrid4 concept. Early abbreviated and later full names describe one programme. Output and emissions remain attributed concept references; no customer allocation or exclusive completed-build total is assigned.
This is an Archive record. Concepts, restored heritage vehicles, works cars and competition programmes are not added to customer road-production totals. A programme profile does not establish how many physical chassis were made, and repeated exhibition appearances do not create additional vehicles.
