Nissan unveiled the GT-R NISMO Special Edition in Japan in April 2021 for an autumn introduction. A clear-coated carbon bonnet, dedicated wheels and more closely balanced engine components distinguished it from the ordinary NISMO road model. This programme profile also retains the later Japanese update row NIS-205 as an alias. It does not count a continuing edition again merely because a later model year revised its body or chassis.

A Special Edition beyond the standard NISMO

The primary 2021 release describes both a revised GT-R NISMO and a separate Special Edition. That distinction matters because the new Stealth Gray colour was not exclusive to the Special Edition alone. The identity rests on its complete factory specification and build record rather than one colour or a NISMO badge. The earlier original NISMO road model in Batch 03 remains a different programme record.

Nissan: original Special Edition unveiling and engine preparation

More precise engine assembly, not an invented power increase

Nissan described tightly controlled, weight-balanced components including the piston rings, connecting rods, crankshaft and related rotating parts. The published engine output remained 441 kW, or 600 PS, with the relevant Japanese unit retained. The special preparation should not become a claim of an additional power rating absent from the source. An individual replacement or modified engine requires its own documentation.

The exposed carbon presentation

A clear-coated carbon bonnet and red-accented forged RAYS wheels supported the Special Edition's appearance. These components can help an identification inspection, but they can also be replaced or retrofitted. The factory record connecting them to the original car is more decisive than a photograph. Document later repairs, paint changes and carbon-panel replacements without assuming every visible detail remains as delivered.

The later Japan-market evolution

Nissan's January 2023 announcement described updated aerodynamics and a front limited-slip differential for the later NISMO generation, with changes to the rear wing and body presentation. Those are dated later-phase features, not equipment assigned backwards to every 2021 Special Edition. This profile keeps the programme's chronology together while retaining specification boundaries for individual model years and markets.

A programme counted once

The inventory's later Japanese Special Edition row is preserved as a reference alias, so an existing record under either ID blocks a duplicate draft. The selected sources do not give a completed all-years Special Edition census. Record the original year, engine assembly details and factory specification of each car rather than treating a continuing model-year announcement as an additional numbered production batch.
