The GT-R50 by Italdesign customer programme followed the original anniversary prototype with a planned series of fifty individually specified cars. Italdesign presented the first production model in May 2020. This profile follows that customer-series identity, separate from the prototype already covered in Batch 03. An announced fifty-car ceiling is retained as a limit, not converted into a verified total of completed or delivered vehicles.

From prototype response to a customer programme

Nissan and Italdesign linked the project to the GT-R's fiftieth anniversary in 2019 and Italdesign's in 2018. The prototype attracted interest before a customer series was confirmed. That development relationship does not make every later car the original show vehicle. A clear catalogue distinguishes prototype history, production-series announcement and individual customer builds, rather than counting one identity repeatedly as plans became more concrete.

Nissan: customer-series specification and planned delivery window

The first production presentation

A 2019 announcement proposed a Geneva 2020 display, but that plan is not treated as proof that the show appearance occurred. Italdesign's own May 2020 presentation provides the firmer production-model milestone. Keeping planned events separate from documented presentations avoids a false chronology. Delivery projections likewise remain projections until matched to completed-car or customer records.

A hand-built 720 PS reference

The programme account specifies a NISMO-tuned 3.8-litre twin-turbo V6 rated at 720 PS. That is a customer-series reference with its original unit retained, rather than a figure for an ordinary GT-R NISMO. Individual mechanical and market approval details still need their build documentation. A highly personalised car can differ in finish and equipment without becoming a separate new edition each time a customer chooses a colour.

Coachwork and individual choices

Italdesign offered a tailored specification process around the distinctive GT-R50 body. That makes original build sheets especially valuable when describing a surviving customer car. They connect its current exterior and cabin to the commissioned specification. A later repaint or repair should be recorded as part of that car's history, while a prototype-style finish alone cannot establish customer-series membership.

Fifty planned versus completed deliveries

The manufacturer described fifty as the intended limited series. The selected records do not supply a reconciled completed-chassis or delivered-customer census. This profile therefore leaves those totals blank and keeps the prototype outside the customer allocation. Any later claim about cars built, delivered or remaining should state its date and evidence, rather than assuming an announced ceiling was fully reached. A customer delivery file should distinguish the order date, body number, first registration and later exhibition appearances. A recent show photograph cannot establish all four.
