The Peugeot e-Legend connected the brand’s electric ambitions with the visual memory of the 504 Coupé. Unveiled for the 2018 Paris motor show, the physical concept combined a recognisable grand-touring form with an all-electric, connected and autonomous-use proposal. Its manufacturer-published battery, output and range figures describe that vision. The e-Legend remains a concept archive subject, separate from both the original 504 road-car family and any later production electric Peugeot.

A historic reference with a modern purpose

Peugeot’s 2019 Milan presentation explicitly identifies the 504 Coupé as a design inspiration. The relationship is visual and cultural rather than a claim of shared mechanical architecture. That makes the e-Legend useful in a heritage archive: it shows how a recognisable shape can frame a different energy and interface proposal. It should not be indexed as a newly manufactured original 504 or folded into that model’s production total.

Peugeot: September 2018 e-Legend reveal

The 2018 Paris introduction

The September 2018 announcement presents the e-Legend as a vision of future mobility to be revealed in Paris. It describes four driving modes, with two autonomous and two manual choices. These scenarios were part of the concept’s argument about retaining pleasure in an automated future. They do not establish that a customer could purchase the vehicle, nor that its proposed autonomous operation was approved for unrestricted use on public roads.

The published electric GT proposition

Peugeot’s Milan account gives a 100 kWh battery reference, 340 kW output and 800 Nm, with a stated range of up to 372 miles. These are manufacturer concept claims rather than new independent measurements. Retaining that status is particularly important for range, which is easily mistaken for a certified retail-model result. A present-day display car’s battery health, usable capacity and available performance require separate evidence from the original promotional specification.

What a later exhibition contributes

The 2019 Milan Design Week presentation documents the e-Legend beyond its original Paris reveal. A later event helps establish the public life of a physical concept, but it does not create another production year or another constructed vehicle. When selecting photographs, retain the event and date in the caption wherever known. The combination of a first-reveal source and a later exhibition image is valid when those two different roles are explained to the reader.

Keeping nostalgia and provenance separate

The familiar coupé form can make the e-Legend look like a ready-to-order revival. A careful profile resists that shortcut by stating what is documented: a concept, its design reference and its proposed technology. For a specific exhibited object, construction records and collection custody matter more than the popularity of its shape. Models, digital recreations and 504-based tributes remain separate subjects and cannot establish an exclusive completed-build count for the factory concept.

Rarity and production scope

Verified physical e-Legend concept. Battery, output, torque, range and autonomous-use descriptions are manufacturer concept references, not current certified customer-car capabilities. No exclusive all-build census or 504 production addition is assigned.

This is an Archive record. Concepts, restored heritage vehicles, works cars and competition programmes are not added to customer road-production totals. A programme profile does not establish how many physical chassis were made, and repeated exhibition appearances do not create additional vehicles.
