BMW M4 CS — G82
Explore BMW M4 CS: rarity, history, specifications, FAQs and credited photos.

The G82 BMW M4 CS introduced a focused four-seat coupé between the M4 Competition and the two-seat CSL in 2024. Its uprated six-cylinder engine, dedicated chassis specification and targeted carbon construction work with M xDrive rather than the CSL’s rear-wheel-drive-only layout.

Origins and history
The launch release described a limited run without giving a precise global figure. BMW Spain subsequently stated a worldwide limit of 1,700 in September 2024, including twenty-five destined for Spain. This profile uses that dated factory statement to establish the series scope, while keeping the completed-production tally distinct from an announced limit.
Design and engineering
The engine’s global reference is 405 kW and 550 metric horsepower. An eight-speed M Steptronic gearbox and M xDrive support the factory acceleration claim of 3.4 seconds to 100 km/h. Chassis calibration and selected lightweight components refine the configuration beyond a simple increase in output.
The retention of rear seats is a useful dividing line from the M4 CSL. Similar horsepower figures should not conceal differences in seating, driven wheels and construction priorities. The CS is a complete model specification, and its identity cannot be reduced to a carbon bonnet or a set of badges fitted to an ordinary Competition.
Why this BMW matters
The M4 CS shows another interpretation of the Competition Sport idea: a more focused coupé that retains accommodation for four. Its place in the range helps explain why both CS and CSL can exist without being interchangeable names for the same car.
Its rarity evidence also demonstrates the value of regional factory releases. A later national announcement can supply a worldwide limit omitted from the original global launch. The proper response is to retain the source and date, rather than presenting a journalist’s estimate as a certified final count. Spain’s twenty-five-car allocation is part of the 1,700, not an additional series to add on top.
Identity and original specification
Authenticate through the original factory model and build records, checking the engine, transmission, carbon equipment, cabin and finish together. Record repair or aftermarket changes, especially where original carbon components or wheels have been replaced. Photographs can support that comparison but cannot replace the chassis documentation.
Use 2024 for the introduction, with any market model-year designation separately recorded. The earlier F82 M4 CS has its own history and count, while the G82 CSL is a different specification. The image set is restricted to the actual 2024 CS factory presentation and does not use either of those related cars as an illustration.
Frequently asked questions
How rare is the M4 CS — G82?
BMW Spain stated a worldwide limit of 1,700 in September 2024, with twenty-five for Spain included in it. The figure is an announced factory limit.
What makes this version different?
Its four-seat configuration, M xDrive and focused chassis/carbon treatment position it between the Competition and two-seat CSL.
Which year belongs in the vehicle record?
Use 2024 for its introduction. Market model-year labels and individual delivery dates should remain separately identified.
Is it the same as other similarly named BMWs?
It is distinct from the earlier F82 CS and the G82 M4 CSL. Shared CS lettering or horsepower does not mean the same vehicle series.
How should an example be authenticated?
Verify the factory CS model and full build specification, then reconcile original equipment with any later repairs or modifications.
What do the photographs show?
The photos show the actual 2024 G82 M4 CS. Earlier-generation CS cars and CSL images are excluded.
