Nissan announced the Japan-market Skyline NISMO in August 2023 with a thousand-car limit and a September introduction. Its tuned twin-turbo engine, chassis development and body work gave it an identity beyond the ordinary Skyline 400R grade. This profile follows the regular limited NISMO model, keeping the separately announced hundred-car NISMO Limited and its special engine-assembly identity distinct.

A limited Skyline grand tourer

Nissan linked the model with the Skyline's GT tradition and described the goal as a balanced grand-touring performance sedan. The factory announcement names a finite programme rather than an arbitrary model-year subset. This makes the subject more specific than every V37 carrying a GT or 400R badge. Original model and delivery records remain necessary when identifying a surviving example.

The VR30DDTT performance reference

The Japanese release gives 309 kW, or 420 PS, and 550 Nm for the NISMO-tuned engine. It also describes revised automatic shift behaviour in sporting modes. These are production-model references with their original units preserved. They should not be confused with a GT500 race engine merely because the engineers drew on competition experience or with the earlier Skyline GT-R's RB26 architecture. The modern sedan uses the VR-series twin-turbo engine rather than the RB-series straight-six associated with older Skyline GT-Rs. That distinction is essential when interpreting the NISMO badge across generations: a shared performance division does not imply a shared engine, drivetrain or racing homologation.

A coordinated chassis programme

Nissan discussed dedicated tyres, wider rear fitment, Enkei wheels, suspension tuning and revised braking-control calibration. The model's identity comes from the combination, not one replaceable exterior part. A genuine car may later acquire different tyres or dampers, while an ordinary Skyline can receive NISMO-style components. The original factory specification is therefore more reliable than a visual checklist alone.

Body and cabin boundaries

The exterior used dedicated aerodynamic pieces and the interior carried numbered identification. Nissan also listed NISMO-tuned Recaro seating as an option, so it should not be presented as universal standard equipment. A complete individual profile should identify the ordered configuration. Missing optional seats do not by themselves invalidate a genuine regular Skyline NISMO, and replacement seats do not authenticate an ordinary car.

One thousand announced, separately from Limited

The manufacturer stated a thousand-car regular-model limit and separately described the NISMO Limited's hundred-car programme for the following year. This profile records its own announced boundary without converting either statement into an audited completed census or automatically presenting a combined delivered total. Serial and delivery documentation are the proper starting point for a chassis-specific count or authenticity claim.
