The R34 V-spec II replaced the earlier V-spec in Nissan's 2000 model update, with a carbon-fibre bonnet carrying a NACA duct as its headline change. The original announcement also identifies brake and trim revisions, while its specification table provides a clear dated road-car reference. This is the BNR34 grade, distinct from the 1994 R32 V-spec II imported in Batch 01 and from the later Nür derivative.

The 2000 update

Nissan's original release says the newly established V-spec II replaced the existing V-spec grade. That is stronger evidence for the model boundary than a later badge comparison alone. It places the car within the R34's continuing development rather than treating it as a different generation. The shared chassis family and the specific suffix both matter when a vehicle database contains several cars called V-spec or V-spec II.

The bonnet and its air duct

The announcement highlights a carbon-fibre engine bonnet with a NACA-type duct. Nissan's collection entry also identifies the bonnet among the V-spec II changes. The feature is useful for understanding the factory specification, but a replacement carbon bonnet is not proof that a particular chassis was built as this grade. Parts can move between cars, and a documented original V-spec fitted with later equipment remains an original V-spec in its build history.

Brake and trim changes in their proper scope

The release says larger rear brakes, previously used on V-spec N1, were adopted across the updated GT-R range. Consequently, they should not be described as an exclusive V-spec II feature. Nissan also lists white turn signals, revised seat cloth, aluminium pedals and an iridium-silver centre console among the updates. Careful scope matters: a model update can include changes shared by several grades as well as one grade's distinctive equipment.

The original road specification

The launch table gives a 2,568 cc twin-turbo six, 280 PS at 6,800 rpm and 392 Nm at 4,400 rpm, with a six-speed manual gearbox. It lists a 1,560 kg weight reference and 245/40ZR18 tyres. These figures belong to the dated road specification. They are not a works-racing power claim, and a present-day car's tuning or replacement parts should be recorded separately from this manufacturer baseline.

Grade, N1 and Nür

V-spec II, V-spec II N1 and V-spec II Nür are not interchangeable labels. The latter developments carry their own equipment and allocation questions. This record therefore avoids importing a Nür production number into an ordinary V-spec II field. For a particular vehicle, build identification and period documentation should establish the original designation before a carbon bonnet, wheel set or engine-cover colour is used as supporting context.

Frequently asked questions

Is this the V-spec II already covered in Batch 01?

No. Batch 01 covered the R32; this is the later BNR34 grade.

Were the larger rear brakes exclusive to V-spec II?

Nissan says the updated GT-R range adopted them, so they are not labelled exclusive here.

What is the production-count boundary for this profile?

Verified R34 V-spec II factory grade. No audited completed grade total is assigned. The R32 V-spec II, R34 N1 and R34 Nür derivatives are distinct identities; their counts and specifications are not substituted here.
