Ducati Panigale V4 SP2 30° Anniversario 916

The Ducati Panigale V4 SP2 30° Anniversario 916 celebrated thirty years of the 916 through a numbered 500-bike programme announced in November 2023. It used the contemporary SP2 platform to reinterpret a racing and design legacy. The customer motorcycle belongs to the modern V4 generation, rather than being a recreation of the original 916’s mechanical specification.

Design and engineering

The commemorative livery brings together tricolour graphics, white number panels and references to the 916’s racing presentation. Carbon-fibre wheels and the SP2’s dry clutch are important parts of the underlying package. The numbered billet steering plate identifies the limited edition. Original road equipment should be recorded separately from accessories supplied for circuit preparation.

Production and edition scope

Five hundred is the manufacturer’s announced edition limit. The late-2023 unveiling and 2024 delivery references describe one programme. It remains separate from the 2019 Panigale V4 25° Anniversario 916, despite the shared inspiration. Regular SP2 motorcycles and owner-created anniversary liveries are not automatically members of this factory series.

Identifying an authentic example

Match the model name and progressive number on the steering plate to chassis, certificate and original sales paperwork. Check the provenance of bodywork, wheels and supplied equipment, documenting replacement components. A photograph of an anniversary motorcycle cannot authenticate another example. Retain original panels and invoices where the motorcycle has been repaired or modified.

Collector significance

The edition links successive Ducati superbike generations through a deliberate factory design. Its collection significance is clearest when both the tribute and the modern SP2 engineering remain visible in the record. A complete delivery file and transparent account of use help distinguish a preserved factory edition from a similar-looking personalised machine.
