The 2024 Sébastien Ogier Edition gave the evolved GR Yaris a restrained matte-grey presentation and a distinct set of four-wheel-drive control modes. Developed with Toyota’s multiple world rally champion, it complements the more vividly painted Rovanperä edition while retaining its own technical and production identity.

Two champions, two different editions

Toyota premiered the road-car editions at Rallye Monte Carlo in January 2024. Japan received a 100-car allocation for each, while Toyota Central Europe described 200 per named edition overall. The Ogier figure is therefore not simply the total of both programmes. A good collection database gives each driver edition its own record and keeps regional allocations nested within that record, rather than adding the Japanese and overall figures together.

Toyota: edition-specific equipment and control modes

Matte Stealth Gray and a dedicated spoiler define the exterior

The factory description pairs Matte Stealth Gray with French-flag details, BBS wheels, blue brake calipers and a lightweight CFRP rally spoiler. As design interpretation, that creates a quieter expression than the companion three-tone car. The shared hatchback body does not make their specifications identical. Body colour and badges are useful visual clues, but replacement parts or a repaint cannot independently establish that a car belongs to the factory allocation.

MORIZO and SEB. modes give the edition substance

Toyota describes exclusive MORIZO and SEB. settings alongside Normal, with different approaches to drive distribution and vehicle control. Their significance is the link between driver feedback and the road-car calibration. The article records that factory explanation without asserting independently tested lap-time gains. A switch label alone is also insufficient authentication; original software, hardware and specification records matter when researching a car that has subsequently been modified.

The evolved manual GR Yaris supplies the basis

The named special uses the evolved GR Yaris and a six-speed manual with GR-FOUR all-wheel drive. The source material includes national specifications, so market differences should remain explicit. The factory photographs here show a Japanese-market prototype and do not certify the delivered equipment of a European example. A later differently named Ogier anniversary special is not assumed to be a continuation of this 2024 allocation merely because the same driver inspired it.

Toyota: Japanese lottery and specification context

Creating a defensible edition file

Collect the original invoice, VIN-linked order, edition documentation and photographs of the cabin details and control modes. Record paint repairs and later calibration work as part of the vehicle’s actual history. Compare the spoiler and trim with the Ogier announcement rather than a generic GR Yaris brochure. Numbered or commemorative details are strongest when supported by the original sales identity. Rarity should remain a documented programme context, not an unsupported guarantee of originality, condition or future value.
