The 2022 GRMN Yaris sharpened the original GR Yaris with two seats, revised gearing, mechanical differentials and extensive attention to body rigidity. Toyota announced 500 for Japan. This single profile includes the base car and its Circuit and Rally packages, preventing three inventory rows from becoming three overlapping production totals.

One GRMN programme, several equipment routes

The GRMN Yaris premiered at Tokyo Auto Salon in January 2022, with lottery reservations and a planned summer sales introduction. Toyota’s 500-car reference covers the complete programme. The Circuit Package is a manufacturer option, while Rally Package components were described as dealer-installed options. They explain different intended uses of the same named car. Adding their allocations to 500 would double-count cars already inside the main offer.

Two seats and a more rigid structure change the brief

The manufacturer describes removal of the rear seats, additional spot welds and structural adhesive. These changes move the GRMN away from an ordinary fast hatchback with cosmetic accessories. As engineering interpretation, reducing cabin utility and concentrating on body response makes the intended priority clear. The modification list is more informative than a power figure alone, although neither a specification sheet nor a picture establishes the present condition of a surviving example.

The transmission and differentials are central

Toyota identifies a six-speed manual with closer ratios and a lower-geared final drive, plus mechanical front and rear limited-slip differentials. The 1.618-litre turbocharged three-cylinder is listed at 200 kW, or 272 PS, with 390 Nm. Those are contemporary Japanese specification references. They should not be replaced by the outputs of later evolved GR Yaris versions. A GRMN badge on a normal hatchback does not reproduce the complete drivetrain specification.

Circuit and Rally equipment need clear labels

The Circuit specification includes dedicated BBS wheels, upgraded brakes, adjustable Bilstein dampers and carbon aerodynamic components. Toyota also described a special Matte Steel offer within the programme; that paint-related 50 reference is not an extra 50 cars outside 500. The Rally route includes selected suspension, underbody protection and roll-bar components. Since dealer options could be selected individually, the condition and equipment of a particular car need their own documentation.

Preserving a complete GRMN identity

For authentication, retain the original factory model and order records together with package invoices. Compare the seats, drivetrain, structural and carbon components with the contemporary specification, recording replacements rather than assuming every part is original. Package names should remain subordinate to the GRMN programme in a collection database. This entry consolidates TOY-235, TOY-236 and TOY-237, so a reader can understand the different routes without receiving duplicate profiles for the same underlying production allocation.

Rarity and production scope

This is the whole 500-car Japanese GRMN Yaris programme. Base, Circuit and Rally inventory rows are consolidated into one identity; optional equipment and the limited Matte Steel offer sit within it. The factory source establishes an allocation and specifications, not an audited final chassis census. No separate programme total is created for a package or colour. Exact completed production remains blank, with the manufacturer reference stored separately.

The 500 reference governs the GRMN programme. Packages are configurations within it.

Does Rally Package mean a separate factory race model?

Toyota described selectable dealer-installed components; individual fitment needs its own records.

What is the production-count boundary for this profile?
