Origins and history

This is a different project from the 500-car 30 Jahre M3 run. The two programmes share anniversary language and the F80 generation, but their scope, configuration and occasion differ. A separate one-off record is therefore warranted without duplicating the worldwide anniversary series.

Design and engineering

The project began with a manual-transmission M3 Competition Package car. Frozen Red II Metallic, bespoke golden wheels and M-colour roof graphics define the exterior. The interior carries the American palette through Opal White, Mugello Red and Fjord Blue leather rather than relying solely on exterior decoration.

The detail is the story: a design team translated a national anniversary into the vehicle’s materials, stitching and graphics. The manual gearbox also remains part of this original’s identity. It should not be replaced in the specification table by the transmission from a different F80 edition merely because both use Competition Package engineering.

Why this BMW matters

The one-off demonstrates how a familiar production platform can support an individual design commission. Its rarity comes from the original project and provenance, while the Competition Package explains the mechanical starting point. Those are complementary facts, not competing definitions of what makes the car special.

A collection can place it beside other BMW Individual originals to show the breadth of the division’s work. Unlike a customer series whose examples share a defined template, this car is anchored to one design execution and one presentation history. A replica of the tricolour interior would not inherit the original SEMA identity.

Identity and original specification

Authentication requires continuity between BMW’s project records, the SEMA presentation and the physical car. Verify the individual configuration and document any later changes. The finish, wheel colour and cabin materials are useful corroboration, but they cannot substitute for the provenance of a one-off.

Keep 2018 as model year and 2017 as unveiling year. The included photograph is identified by BMW as the American Edition; unrelated accessory photographs from the same SEMA release are excluded. A single exact image is preferable to a gallery padded with another car or a charger product.
