Aprilia Tuono RR Misano Limited Edition

The 2020 Tuono RR Misano Limited Edition brought Aprilia’s 1987 Misano racing tribute to its upright V4 road motorcycle. Announced for the United States alongside an RSV4 version, it is an independent 100-bike edition. Its heritage colours do not turn it into the same model as the fully faired RSV4 Misano.

Design and engineering

The base motorcycle was the Tuono V4 1100 RR. Aprilia’s announcement specified the red, white and green treatment, a carbon-fibre front mudguard and a lithium battery. The numbered identification was located on the tank cover, rather than the RSV4’s top triple clamp. That difference is useful when comparing photographs and checking the physical motorcycle.

Production and edition scope

The announced limit was 100 Tuono examples for the United States. This is a separate series from the 100 RSV4 RR Misano motorcycles. The November 2019 announcement related to the 2020 offering; it should not generate a duplicate 2019 edition record. Subsequent export of a motorcycle does not alter the original US market scope.

Identifying an authentic example

Confirm the VIN, original delivery records and numbered tank-cover identification. Compare the livery and supplied equipment with the manufacturer’s reproduced release, documenting any replacement panels or later accessories. Treat a number plate as one part of the evidence, not a substitute for the motorcycle’s factory identity. Repainted bodywork should be described accurately even when the underlying edition is genuine.

Collector significance

The Tuono Misano packages a specific chapter of Aprilia racing history in a more upright road-bike format than the RSV4 tribute. Its rarity claim depends on keeping those two editions separate. An individual example’s ownership and mechanical histories still need their own documentation. Before purchase, review service records, electronics, suspension and any changes to road equipment, while avoiding unsupported claims that tribute graphics confer competition provenance.
