Renault Filante Record 2025 connected the brand’s record-car heritage with an electric-efficiency experiment. Its story moved beyond the initial show presentation: Renault reported a 1,008-kilometre run without recharging in December 2025, after substantial aerodynamic development. The original display configuration and the later test car must be distinguished.

A laboratory with a historical silhouette

Renault unveiled Filante Record 2025 in January 2025 ahead of Rétromobile. The single-seater drew visual references from the 40 CV des Records, Nervasport and Étoile Filante while pursuing a different target: efficient electric travel at sustained speed. This is a physical demonstrator programme, not the later Filante road crossover. The shared name should not merge their specifications, purposes or production figures in a vehicle catalogue.

Renault: original Filante demonstrator and engineering brief

Efficiency depends on the complete system

The original factory account describes an 87 kWh battery, a target vehicle mass of about 1,000 kg and specially developed low-rolling-resistance tyres. It also identifies electronic steering and braking systems. The engineering interest lies in how those elements work with the body and structure. Battery capacity by itself cannot explain the distance achieved, and the demonstrator’s result should not be presented as a retail range rating for the Scenic that shares the same nominal capacity.

The record car evolved after its public reveal

Renault’s later account explains that wind-tunnel work led to revised wheel fairings, changes around the mechanical interfaces and smaller air openings. The central body remained broadly consistent while the surrounding aerodynamics changed. This matters when choosing an illustration: the supplied Rétromobile photograph shows the initial presentation. It is not a photograph of the later Morocco run, and visible differences should be explained as development rather than quietly ignored.

The December result has a specific boundary

Renault reports that the car covered 1,008 kilometres without recharging on 18 December 2025 at UTAC’s Morocco test track, averaging 102 km/h and consuming 7.8 kWh per 100 kilometres. These are attributed manufacturer-reported test results. The account describes three drivers sharing the run and eleven per cent charge remaining. This profile does not turn the estimated remaining distance into additional kilometres actually driven or claim independent certification not supplied by the source.

Document configurations as well as the central chassis

A complete provenance file should connect the original demonstrator, aerodynamic revisions, component changes and test records. Record the date and configuration of each exhibition or running appearance. Later bodywork does not automatically mean a separate car, while a similar display shell does not automatically prove continuity with the test vehicle. The physical object’s identity and the reported programme achievement are related facts that still need their own evidence.

Rarity and production scope

This is an Archive programme record, with no customer road-production total and no independently established all-build census. Renault’s December 2025 run is attributed to the manufacturer’s report, not presented as a new independent audit or homologated retail range. Initial presentation, aerodynamic development and the later record configuration are kept distinct. The separate Filante production crossover is outside this identity.

This is an Archive record. Concepts, restored heritage vehicles, works cars and competition programmes are not added to customer road-production totals. A programme profile does not establish how many physical chassis were made, and repeated exhibition appearances do not create additional vehicles.

Frequently asked questions

Does the photo show the car during the 1,008 km run?

No. It shows the initial Rétromobile presentation, before the aerodynamic revisions described in the later test account.

Is 1,008 km a certified retail driving range?

No. It is Renault’s reported distance for a dedicated demonstrator on a specified test-track run, not a production-model range certification.

What is the production-count boundary for this profile?

This is an Archive programme record, with no customer road-production total and no independently established all-build census. Renault’s December 2025 run is attributed to the manufacturer’s report, not presented as a new independent audit or homologated retail range. Initial presentation, aerodynamic development and the later record configuration are kept distinct. The separate Filante production crossover is outside this identity.
