The Porsche Boxster 25 Years marked a quarter century of the production Boxster in 2021. Based on the 718 Boxster GTS 4.0, it combined a four-litre naturally aspirated six with a manufacturer-announced worldwide limit of 1,250. Neodyme accents referenced the 1993 Detroit concept, while the roadster itself belonged to the modern 982 family. This profile covers the complete anniversary edition, keeping the original concept and earlier Boxster special models in their own historical programmes.

Twenty-five years from production, not from the concept

Porsche’s anniversary announcement distinguishes the 1993 Detroit show car from the production Boxster launched in 1996. The 2021 celebration follows the production anniversary, while its design deliberately reaches back to the earlier concept. Keeping both dates visible explains the car more accurately than using a single anniversary label. The concept already has a separate Archive identity, and its existence does not add an extra vehicle to the modern customer-edition allocation.

Porsche: anniversary introduction, specifications and worldwide limit

The four-litre GTS foundation

The factory description identifies a 4.0-litre naturally aspirated flat-six producing 294 kW or 400 PS. Buyers could choose a six-speed manual gearbox or seven-speed PDK. These specifications place the anniversary edition within the 718 GTS family, distinct from the 981 Spyder and the later RS models. Model-level figures describe the delivered programme; an individual car’s engine, software and equipment history still require documentation if they have changed since delivery.

Neodyme and the range of factory colours

Porsche reinterpreted Neodyme as a copper-like contrast for the front treatment, side intakes, lettering and two-tone wheels. GT Silver Metallic formed the presentation theme, but Deep Black Metallic and Carrara White Metallic were also offered. The Bordeaux cabin and red roof could likewise be replaced by black factory combinations. These options matter when reviewing photographs: one launch colour scheme illustrates the idea, but it is not the only legitimate specification of the anniversary model.

The 1,250-car programme boundary

The announced worldwide limit is 1,250 for the complete Boxster 25 Years programme. It is not 1,250 for each transmission, exterior colour or roof treatment. Nor does it describe every four-litre 718 roadster. This article retains the manufacturer’s edition limit with that boundary and leaves the independently audited completed-total field unfilled. A separate matching accessory or a later body conversion does not create an additional anniversary car or a new allocation within the edition.

Documenting an original Boxster 25 Years

Use the original chassis and factory build record to confirm the edition before relying on Neodyme paint, roof lettering or a numbered plaque. Record the delivered colour and transmission, then preserve later changes with dates where possible. The Goodwood photograph shows the model in a real public setting, rather than a generated illustration. It does not establish the individual chassis’s numbered position or verify every original mechanical component. Those claims belong to an individual provenance file.
